Update!

Hello! im sorry its been such a long time since my last update, alot has happened in the time since my last post! After myself and my group members had our work in progress presentation we decided to change some of the responsibilities of group members to better advance the project. Paul Braddick is now in charge of creating the 3D characters, which leaves me with enough time to create a big list of props that could be implimented into the game.

Below are some of the latest screenshots of the character, it was box modelled off of a basic base mesh.

3D Character Update!

Hello! It has been a while since i have updated my status, i went home for a good few days in celebration for my birthday and then when i came back my internet was a bit dodgy, but it is working now, Huzzah!

 

previously i was working on the main characters helmet, i took the base mesh for the characters head into zbrush to see how it would come out, i tried multiple attempts to get the helmet to look nice, however because of the way the base mesh head was laid out, and the way that the helmet needs to have sharp lines and styles in it, it made it difficult to make in zbrush. The two images below show the attempts i made in Zbrush for the helmet, both do not look particulaly good.

 

After the unsuccessful attempts at making the characters helmet look good, we decided to try it a different way,  using the base mesh head again we decided to just box model the head from the base mesh and with alot of good help from Paul Braddick we got the helmet to look alot better. Since the helmet looks so nice in max and that the design of the main character has alot of plates and sharp jagged edges in the design we decided that certain parts on the main body would benifit from box modeling as well, so im going to attempt some box modeling on the body to compare how they look against the zbrush one i have already done.

over the next few days i will be working on the box modelling of the chracters body to try and compare the two types.

Continued 3D

Ive continued to work on the model in Zbrush, all ive been doing its trying to get the details from the concept art onto the model in rough before i start to smarten it up and make it look alot nicer, once all of the detail is there i can focus more on the look of the model.

Start on the 3D

ive been working on the base mesh of the model, getting it to the correct size ect. once that was done i was able to import it into Zbrush and just give it a rough sketch on the chest to see what it could look like at the end. below is a screen grab on the chest with some of the characters detail on it.

the concept art is almost finished now for the main character, we’ve all decided on the design of his armor using the Interactive Character Concept.

Im just waiting for the front and side views of the main character and then i can start to model the character.

Since im unable to work on the main character 3D  modelling because im awaiting for the main characters concept art to be completed, while waiting for that to be completed im currently working on the 3D props used within to game.

The main characters interactive concept art flash has be finalised now we are just awaiting replies on what people believe the main character should look like based off of their prefrences, were all really pleased with the way the interactive concept art flash is working.
